Wigwam Village No. 2

Was on my list to do, and found our stay here wonderful! When checking in the owner, Keith, gave us a brief history of the place and their plans to bring it back to its original 1937 glory. We stayed in spacious teepee #7 that had two double beds. The beautiful furniture is the original from 1937 with very comfortable new mattresses. The bathrooms have the original beautiful tile. I will definitely stay here again when in the area. It is close Mammoth Cave and Horse Cave with plenty of restaurants near by. I loved staying in such a cool place of nostalgia.

Really cool place 100 percent come back. The owner bought this place during COVID and has been restoring it t to its glory. He got brand new beds and stall air conditioning in every unit.And even t vs. There is a community bonfire every night.That is so much fun we met.So many great people, and it was a blast. We found out he's currently working on rebuilding and reopening the coffee shop that was here.I highly recommend this place. And on top of that, there is an optional history tour of the whole location on how it was built.And everything

Just do it. You know you want to. The concerns I had were: is it safe? Is it clean? Yes it's safe, yes it's clean. The door has a deadbolt and a chain. Don't get me wrong, it's niche. Not gonna be for everyone. But if you're looking for a way to enhance your road trip, this is a surefire way to do it. Speaking of fire, the night bonfire is a very cool opportunity to meet other travelers. The communal vibe was cool. It was a fun experience, without being gimmicky. The owners are cool but are taking the project seriously. It's a unique thing to do to break up the monotony of life. So just do it, book a night. It's fun, it's nifty.

Lots of thoughts about this experience. The owner Keith was very knowledgeable and helpful. He had a good understanding of the history and background of the area and the Wigwam motels. I found the beds to be very comfortable and the room was very nice. The small electric heater was sufficient for the night we stayed but if it was any colder some real heat would be nice. I enjoyed the bonfire held at night and felt it was a cool experience and very abnormal in a good way. Keith is very involved in the motel and was a constant presence around the property but very friendly and never invasive. Overall, very good experience. I don't really understand the pricing. 125 for a single bed and 250 for the double. We would have preferred to book 2 singles but only as double was left. I don't really understand why the pricing is exactly double the single. Not really a critique but more of a question/comment. I was happy to be a guest and to contribute a small portion to the restoration of this historical place. I look forward to coming back sometime in the future to see the updates as they continue to be made.

This not a 5 star hotel but still deserves 5 stars. I was here with my family in 1966 or '67 before and after the Mammoth Cave tour. Awesome place as a kid, both the cave and the village. I went back in '88, 2 nights, did the cave. I'm sure it was maintained and upgraded. I expect it still is. When I go back to Mammoth Cave I'll stay here again. If I ever decide to become an onsite local/local motel owner in a mountain market this would be first on my list.

Don't miss this historic one of a kind Motel. Wigwams clean, cozy, comfortable..super comfortable beds. Bonfire fire in evenings. Fantastic playground for children. Safe environment. Excellent management and service. Great history talks and literature. Always wanted to stay there and now I have. Worth a trip just to stay there.

This was our second stay. I love this place! They speak right to my kitchy heart. Keith and Megan have done a fantastic job not only restoring the place, but straddling the line between honoring the past and attempting to not be disrespectful to indigenous peoples- not an easy task. The units are well equipped, excellent service, and a family atmosphere. I can't wait for the diner to be restored. We will be back.

Such a cute little place. Rooms were clean, quiet with original old furnishings. Of course don’t expect a lot of space. We had 4 women staying in a room with 2 double beds. It was pretty tight but we still loved it. The owner built a fire each night and we met the other campers and shared lots of laughs (and marshmallows). The location was great being close to Mammoth Natl. Park and several other caves. Nearby local restaurants were awesome and the people were so friendly. I highly recommend you make the trip!
